Who is Gina Bower Wedding Photography? What are you all about?

We are Gina Bower and Ray Pfeiffer. We’re partners in business and life– we work together, live together, raise our child together and just got married too. Between the two of us, we have over ten years of experience in different fields of photography in addition to weddings. Gina has specialized in black & white film, darkroom, families, babies and documentary work locally and internationally; Ray has specialized in headshots, fashion, sports, editorial, product and photoshop work. Our diverse experience has prepared us technically and artistically for one of the most challenging and rewarding fields in photography, weddings. We both bring our own expertise, training and creativity to collectively deliver beautiful images that fully document your wedding day and your love.

Gina thinks Ray is a master creative problem solver. He makes things work and makes them happen– whether it’s throwing together ingredients to make a delicious dish, fixing a motorcycle or car, or figuring out just the right thing to tweak to perfectly illuminate a photo with natural light, flashes or strobes. Gina is into yoga, samba dancing and the power of relationships to create change. She is constantly on the lookout for beauty and memories she can translate into photographs— from lovely sunlight, to distinct backgrounds, sweet moments, little details and fun dancing scenes.

”WOW!! YOU GUYS DID AN AMAZING JOB CAPTURING OUR DAY. I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW BEAUTIFUL THE PICTURES ARE. I CAN’T STOP SMILING AS I LOOK THROUGH THEM “-A&C

How would you describe your photography style? What is coverage like?

We shoot primarily in a documentary photojournalistic style, which means we take pictures of how the day is naturally unfolding. A good portion of the wedding day coverage features candid and natural feeling shots, which means you can be present to celebrate your love with your community of loved ones on your wedding day. We document the range of heartfelt emotions (smiles, tears, laughter), the big and little loving gestures and the details that make your wedding, your love and your story unique. In addition to the photojournalistic coverage, we provide you with little suggestions and cues to help you feel more at ease with the camera so your true selves and your story can shine through.

Typical coverage also includes detail shots of the things you’ve intentionally chosen to be at your celebration as well as formal photographs. Some of the formal family and wedding party photos require direction and posing; but we try to make these efficient and light-hearted. We’re particularly inspired by emotions, gestures, light and details, which means these elements are consistently a part of both the formal and candid images.

What kind of a couple is a good fit for your photography?

You are down-to-earth and more excited for your marriage than your wedding (but you’re of course excited to celebrate your love with the people most important to both of you). You understand that weddings can be spontaneous and you’re up for going with the flow. You appreciate the journey and you like to laugh. You respect others opinions but at the end of the day make choices that are the right fit for the two of you.

We love photographing non-traditional and traditional celebrations of all kinds as long as they are in line with your values as a couple. A couple that is a good fit for us is loving and committed. We believe that marriage is a universal human right and we feel especially honored to photograph LGBT couples’ love celebrations.
